Individuals with mental illness, with or without insurance, often have tremendous difficulty accessing mental health care services. Extended waits are frequently encountered when scheduling an initial appointment with a mental health care provider. This can cause additional, undue stress for the individual.

The goal of the Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) is to provide rapid access to outpatient mental health care. The UCC team works with the individual to create a person-centered, recovery based treatment plan. Services provided include mental health care, coordination of services, support for self-management, and connection to follow-up care. Individuals will be engaged in services for ninety days or until permanent mental health care is established.

An innovative component of the Urgent Care Clinic is the use of Peer Navigators who have a lived experience with mental health care. The goal of the peer navigator is to strengthen connections to community- based services and support, reduce social isolation, and reinforce treatment motivation.

Referrals are accepted from local emergency departments, community mental health centers, social service providers, medical professionals, family members, and through self referral. While an appointment is recommended, the UCC also provides walk-in services.
